Tasmania is now becoming respected for making some of the finer sparkling, Methode Champenoise styled wines in the world. Its cooler, marginal climate is almost a perfect match for producing grapes that work perfectly for the Champagne style. At the forefront has been Taltarni, with their Clover Hill Sparkling wine. This has been recognized as one of the best out of the New World and once a fan of bubbly tries it it’s easy to concur. Made from the three traditional varietals, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier its aged for 3 years on its lees for complexity before released.
Bright and zesty with a tight structure and a core of minerality etched into the crisp apple and lemony citrus notes, this has dry cast and a lengthy finish that speaks of pure class in a fast developing category for Tasmania.
