Colchagua Valley, Chile
Casa Silva is a family owned winery in the Colchagua Valley of Chile. The winery was started by Emilio Bouchon who immigrated from Bordeaux in 1892 and started farming grapes. In 1997 the Silva family purchased the property and renamed it to Casa Silva. The winery building is the oldest in the Colchagua Valley, but has some of the most modern equipment available. With the change of ownership came a change in direction, and the winery moved towards making premium wines. The Silva family has expanded the vineyard holdings and the grounds now include a polo field and equestrian center. The home block of Angostura was first planted to vines in 1912, and those vines still remain.
