93pts, Robert Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, #161 10/31/05
"Bleasdale produces some of the most reliable as well as fairly priced wines from Langhorne Creek that are good choices for both neophytes and connoisseurs. My favorite wine in this portfolio is the 2003 Shiraz Reserve. A 100% Shiraz aged in a combination of new and used 300 liter American hogsheads, this full-bodied, rich cuvee reveals aromas of asphalt, pepper, chocolate, blackberries, and cassis. While full-throttle, chewy, and heady, it is not over-the-top (only 13.9% alcohol), possessing decent acidity as well as a spicy finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years."
88pts. Wine Spectator. 2006 Rich and supple, a generous mouthful of cherry and subtle spice flavors, picking up a nice cedary note as the fruit lingers on the slightly hot finish. Drink now through 2009. 600 cases made. (HS)
90 pts Stephen Tanzer 2007 Saturated ruby. High-toned and oaky on the nose, with sweet blackcurrant and blueberry aromas accented by vanilla, cigar box and full-blown flowers. Smoky and sweet on the palate, the ripe dark berry flavors showing good depth and weight. Nicely focused, fresh and firmly structured. There's a nice balance here between ripe fruit and suave tannins, boding well for cellaring. |
