Bleasdale

Bleasdale Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

90 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 2007 - Silky and sweet, with inviting dark berry preserve flavors.

Tasting Notes

The 2005 Bleasdale Cabernet has finally arrived with much awaited anticipation. Loaded with gobs of sweet black currant fruit this has tremendous depth and length at a terrific price. It always goes back to the concept that Cab is King and when you get this quality at this price point you jump all over it, no questions asked.

Food Accompaniments

Medium-rare rack of lamb with mint sauce.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

90 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Deep ruby. Strongly perfumed bouquet offers suave blackberry, mulberry, cedar, rose and minerals. Silky and sweet, with inviting dark berry preserve flavors, gentle tannins and impressive finishing energy. A very pure, palate-coating cabernet with great immediate appeal.

89 pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s The Wine Advocate #173
Dark ruby colored, the wine has an aromatic array of cedar, red and black currants with a touch of eucalyptus, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to a medium- to full-bodied, supple wine with forward red and black fruit flavors, excellent balance, ripe tannins and a long, pure finish. Drink this outstanding value over the next 6 years.

87 Wine Spectator Dec 31, 2007
Lithe and juicy, with cranberry and currant fruit shaded with cedar and bay leaf, finishing with refinement. Drink now through 2011. 15,000 cases made. –HS

Winemaker Notes

Bleasdale has a long history in Australian wine folklore but it’s only been over the last 6-8 years where it has started to make in roads into the US market. The progression has been steady and rightly so, as this winery makes wines that are not only of exceptional quality, their pricing makes them highly desirable for everyday enjoyment as well. - Machine picked fruit, 6 day ferment on skins, pumped over twice daily for 30 minutes. - Malolactic fermentation undertaken. - Blended and oak matured. - Bottled
