Apaltagua 'Envero' 2007 impressive red blend out of Chile - 90% Carmenere & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
Sourced from vines that are over 50 years in age out of the Apalta region of Chile’s Colchagua Valley this is distinctively terroir driven with its earth tones and tobacco spice underpinning the darker red fruits on the nose. A blend of predominately Carmenere with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon this shows offers good complexity as well as the unique flavor profile of Carmenere. Possessing a smooth, sleek texture on entry on its medium-fuller body, this is backed with gripping tannins that suggests pairing with something with some fat content. This does a fine job of showing sense of place this shows why Carmenere is building momentum out of Chile.
