This has a lovely floral, tea leaf, spice lift to the nose pumped up with lots of deep, dark red fruits - cherry, raspberry, shaded with a higher cranberry pitch giving a beautiful varietal aromatic profile. Medium-fuller bodied this has enticing roundness in the mid palate, almost supple but with a brighter edge to the fruit that results in a gorgeous mouth feel. Not as forward as last year’s big scorer this is maybe a little more restrained but with all the components for excellent aging potential. The problem with comparing vintages is that if a wine is good and it’s well made sometimes you are splitting hairs, this the case here. This is quite engaging with a Pinot presence that speaks of class and refinement. This is another very well made wine that will blossom into a real beauty given a year or two of bottle aging.

Very good intensity to berry, black cherry and roast duck flavors, with plenty of cedary oak and stony notes extending through the taut, tannic finish. Needs time to show its best. Best from 2009 through 2012.
